Our Work

Create a Community of Practice

The Center will work closely with Compact participants, Georgia Tech faculty, and partners to create a “community of practice” through collective learning experiences (e.g., workshops, dialogues, site visits, and student projects), shared knowledge and best practices, and other opportunities to support the objectives of the Compact and its members. We anticipate that learnings and insights will be shared publicly.

Facilitate Collaboration

The Center will develop and implement a process for identifying, vetting, and prioritizing collaborative projects on which Compact participants will consider taking action themselves. This process will be implemented in coordination with Compact participants, interested Georgia Tech faculty, non-governmental organizations, and others. (Any research projects with Georgia Tech faculty or Centers emerging out of this process will be contracted and managed separately by the relevant principal investigators (PIs), following Georgia Tech guidelines for industry-sponsored research).

Catalyze Innovation

The Center will help to design new innovation platforms and/or collaborate with existing initiatives that connect thematically with the Drawdown Georgia solutions and net zero goals of the Compact. Discussion to date among Compact participants points to strong interest in grand challenges or other competitions focused on students, startups, and company/organizational employees. We are initiating discussions with the Carbon Solutions Lab (a collaboration between CREATE-X and the Georgia Climate Project), the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation (PIN), the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), and others to see how we might collaborate on potential innovation activities.

Advancing Equity and Inclusion

The Center is committed to equity and inclusion in its climate change initiatives. This is evident in the Center’s recommendations, inclusive processes, partnerships, and research practices. By collaborating with various stakeholders such as funders, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and academic institutions, the Center aims to establish a focused network of programs and activities that prioritize both equity and climate change mitigation. The Center's goal is to integrate equity into all climate-related efforts and create a future where inclusivity and fairness are central to addressing the challenges of climate change.

Measure Impact

The Center will work with participating companies and strategic partners to gather information and data that enables measurement and reporting on the impact of collaborative efforts, such as contributions and progress towards the statewide target of net-zero carbon emissions and other co-benefits like increasing equity and economic opportunity.
